American Swing: Joe Venuti and His Blue Four - The Man From The South, 1929

Joe Venuti and His Blue Four -- The Man From The South (Rube Bloom), Odeon 1929 (the original recording was made in USA by Okeh, in 1928)

NOTE: The names of Joe Venuti's Blue Four, Blue Five or Blue Six referred to the number of musicians used on the recording session. Usually, the musicians included Joe Venuti , Eddie Lang and Frankie Trumbauer as well as one or two other members of Paul Whiteman's Orchestra at the time that these sessions were performed. The presence of three music geniuses (Venuti -- violin, Lang -- guitar and Trumbauer -- saxophone) make these recordings masterpieces of American instrumental jazz of the swing era.
Compare this version of that excellent & super-hot tune with the one recorded by its composer Rube Bloom And His Bayou Boys http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NW3kqdbzDFA
