Dire Straits with Eric Clapton - Tribute To Mandela (1988) - Brothers in arms

The Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute was a popular-music concert staged on June 11, 1988 at Wembley Stadium, London and broadcast to 67 countries and an audience of 600 million. It was also referred to as Freedomfest, Free Nelson Mandela Concert and Mandela Day. In the US, the Fox television network heavily censored the political aspects of the concert (wiki)

These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Some day you'll return to me
Your valleys and your farms
And you'll no longer burn
To be brothers in arms

Through these fields of destruction
Baptisms of fire
I've witnessed all your suffering
As the battle raged higher
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms

There's so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones

Now the sun's gone to hell
And the moon's riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But it's written in the starlight
And every line on your palm
We're fools to make war
On our brothers in arms

Ney Matogrosso - "Viajante" (TV Manchete, 1984)

Viajante
Ney Matogrosso

Mansidão no peito trazendo o respeito
A paixão contida, retraída e nua
Correndo na sala ao te ver deitada
Ao te ver calada, ao te ver cansada, ao te ver no ar
Talvez esperando desse viajante
Mansidão no peito trazendo o respeito
Que eu queria tanto derrubar de vez
Pra ser teu talvez, pra ser teu talvez

Janis Joplin - Little Girl Blue (This is Tom Jones, 1969)

Queen Janis sings an amazing version of this song, way back in 1969. I put this video up because it's rarely shown elsewhere, it's such a vulnerable performance and unlike anything else she ever recorded.

Vitor Ramil - Deixando o Pago (ao vivo)

Alcei a perna no pingo
E saí sem rumo certo
Olhei o pampa deserto
E o céu fincado no chão
Troquei as rédeas de mão
Mudei o pala de braço
E vi a lua no espaço
Clareando todo o rincão

E a trotezito no mais
Fui aumentando a distância
Deixar o rancho da infância
Coberto pela neblina
Nunca pensei que minha sina
Fosse andar longe do pago
E trago na boca o amargo
Dum doce beijo de china

Sempre gostei da morena
É a minha cor predileta
Da carreira em cancha reta
Dum truco numa carona
Dum churrasco de mamona
Na sombra do arvoredo
Onde se oculta o segredo
Num teclado de cordeona

Cruzo a última cancela
Do campo pro corredor
E sinto um perfume de flor
Que brotou na primavera.
À noite, linda que era,
Banhada pelo luar
Tive ganas de chorar
Ao ver meu rancho tapera

Como é linda a liberdade
Sobre o lombo do cavalo
E ouvir o canto do galo
Anunciando a madrugada
Dormir na beira da estrada
Num sono largo e sereno
E ver que o mundo é pequeno
E que a vida não vale nada

O pingo tranqueava largo
Na direção de um bolicho
Onde se ouvia o cochicho
De uma cordeona acordada
Era linda a madrugada
A estrela d'alva saía
No rastro das três marias
Na volta grande da estrada

Era um baile, um casamento
Quem sabe algum batizado
Eu não era convidado
Mas tava ali de cruzada
Bolicho em beira de estrada
Sempre tem um índio vago
Cachaça pra tomar um trago
Carpeta pra uma carteada

Falam muito no destino
Até nem sei se acredito
Eu fui criado solito
Mas sempre bem prevenido
Índio do queixo torcido
Que se amansou na experiência
Eu vou voltar pra querência
Lugar onde fui parido

Amazing show recorded on october 18 in 1978 in Milan, Italy, with the duo Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinícius de Moraes, followed by Toquinho's guitar and Miúchas's voice (wich for those who don't know, is Chico Buarque's sister).
I ripped all the clips directly from the dvd to share with people. I left the subtitles in Portuguese to people in Brazil understand what is said in italian, and people from foreign countries try to sing along =]
Any sudden cuts between one music and another is not my fault, is the chapters division from the dvd. Enjoy!

Aqui vai o link de todas as músicas ripadas direto do dvd:

Simon & Garfunkel - Sounds Of Silence (Live Canadian TV, 1966)

Let's Sing Out (Series) (1963-1967)
Feb 17, 1966 - Simon and Garfunkel, Sharon Trostin and Steve Jorgunsen are guests at University College, University of Toronto.

Originating from university campuses all across Canada, Let's Sing Out featured audience participation as students joined Canadian and American guest stars in familiar and popular folk songs. The weekly half-hour series was seen on Fridays throughout the CTV network, beginning October 11, 1963. Host for the show was Winnipeg-born Oscar Brand.

The series aired on CTV until it was picked up by the CBC in the fall of 1966 and ran for one more season.

Foo Fighters - The Pretender

"Keep you in the dark you know they all pretend

What if I say I'm not like the others
What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays
You're the pretender
What if I say that I'll never surrender

I'm the voice inside your head, you refuse to hear
I'm the face that you have to face, mirrored in your stare
I'm what's left, I'm what's right, I'm the enemy
I'm the hand that'll take you down, bring you to your knees"

No More Sorrow: Lyrics

"Thieves and hypocrites!
Thieves and hypocrites!
Thieves and hypocrites!

I see pain, I see need
I see liars and thieves
Abuse power with greed
I had hope, I believed
But I'm beginning to think that I've been decieved
You will pay for what you've done

No, no more sorrow
I've paid for your mistakes
Your time is borrowed
Your time has come to be replaced"

Ornella Vanoni e Vinicius de Moraes - Io so che ti amerò

IO SO CHE TI AMERÒ (Eu sei que vou te amar)
Io so che ti amerò
Per tutta la mia vita ti amerò
E in ogni lontananza ti amerò
E senza una speranza
io so che ti amerò
Ed ogni mio pensiero è
per dirti che
io so che ti amerò
per tutta la mia vita
Io so che piangerò
Io so che soffrirò
la pena senza fine che mi dà
il desiderio di essere con te
per tutta la mia vita

My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean Song

===
Check out the Lyrics of this Nursery Rhyme :
My Bonnie lies over the ocean
My Bonnie lies over the sea
My Bonnie lies over the ocean
Oh bring back my Bonnie to me

Bring back, bring back
Bring back my Bonnie to me, to me
Bring back, bring back
Bring back my Bonnie to me

Last night as I lay on my pillow
Last night as I lay on my bed
Last night as I lay on my pillow
I dreamt that my Bonnie was there.

Bring back, bring back
Bring back my Bonnie to me, to me
Bring back, bring back
Bring back my Bonnie to me

Blow the winds over the ocean
Blow the winds over the sea
Blow the winds over the ocean
To bring back my Bonnie to me

Bring back, bring back
Bring back my Bonnie to me, to me
Bring back, bring back
Bring back my Bonnie to me

The winds have blown over the ocean
The winds have blown over the sea
The winds have blown over the ocean
And brought back my Bonnie to me

Bring back, bring back
Bring back my Bonnie to me, to me
Bring back, bring back
Bring back my Bonnie to me

Bring back, bring back
Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me

K-K-K-Katy

"K-K-K-Katy" was a popular World War I-era song written by Geoffrey O'Hara in 1917 and published in 1918. The sheet music advertised it as "The Sensational Stammering Song Success Sung by the Soldiers and Sailors". The song tells the story of Jimmy, a young soldier "brave and bold" who stuttered when he tried to speak to girls. Finally he managed to talk to Katy, the "maid with hair of gold". The chorus is what he spoke:
K-K-K-Katy, beautiful Katy,
You're the only g-g-g-girl that I adore;
When the m-m-m-moon shines,
Over the c-c-c-cowshed,
I'll be waiting at the k-k-k-kitchen door.

Paciência - Lenine

Mesmo quando tudo pede
Um pouco mais de calma
Até quando o corpo pede
Um pouco mais de alma
A vida não para...

Enquanto o tempo
Acelera e pede pressa
Eu me recuso faço hora
Vou na valsa
A vida é tão rara...

Enquanto todo mundo
Espera a cura do mal
E a loucura finge
Que isso tudo é normal
Eu finjo ter paciência...

O mundo vai girando
Cada vez mais veloz
A gente espera do mundo
E o mundo espera de nós
Um pouco mais de paciência...

Será que é tempo
Que lhe falta pra perceber ?
Será que temos esse tempo
Pra perder?
E quem quer saber ?
A vida é tão rara
Tão rara...

Mesmo quando tudo pede
Um pouco mais de calma
Até quando o corpo pede
Um pouco mais de alma
Eu sei, a vida não para
A vida não para não...

Será que é tempo
Que lhe falta pra perceber ?
Será que temos esse tempo
Pra perder ?
E quem quer saber ?
A vida é tão rara
Tão rara...

Mesmo quando tudo pede
Um pouco mais de calma
Até quando o corpo pede
Um pouco mais de alma
Eu sei, a vida é tão rara
A vida não para não...

A vida não para...

Paciência

The Hobbit Misty Mountains ★ Lyrics

Far over the Misty Mountains cold,
To dungeons deep and caverns old,
We must away, ere break of day,
To seek our pale enchanted gold.

The dwarves of yore made mighty spells,
While hammers fell like ringing bells,
In places deep, where dark things sleep,
In hollow halls beneath the fells.

For ancient king and elvish lord
There many a gleaming golden hoard
They shaped and wrought, and light they caught,
To hide in gems on hilt of sword.

On silver necklaces they strung
The flowering stars, on crowns they hung
The dragon-fire, on twisted wire
They meshed the light of moon and sun.

Far over the Misty Mountains cold,
To dungeons deep and caverns old,
We must away, ere break of day,
To claim our long-forgotten gold.

Goblets they carved there for themselves,
And harps of gold, where no man delves
There lay they long, and many a song
Was sung unheard by men or elves.

The pines were roaring on the heights,
The wind was moaning in the night,
The fire was red, it flaming spread,
The trees like torches blazed with light.

The bells were ringing in the dale,
And men looked up with faces pale.
The dragon's ire, more fierce than fire,
Laid low their towers and houses frail.

The mountain smoked beneath the moon.
The dwarves, they heard the tramp of doom.
They fled the hall to dying fall
Beneath his feet, beneath the moon.

Far over the Misty Mountains grim,
To dungeons deep and caverns dim,
We must away, ere break of day,
To win our harps and gold from him!

The wind was on the withered heath,
But in the forest stirred no leaf:
There shadows lay be night or day,
And dark things silent crept beneath.

The wind came down from mountains cold,
And like a tide it roared and rolled.
The branches groaned, the forest moaned,
And leaves were laid upon the mould.

The wind went on from West to East;
All movement in the forest ceased.
But shrill and harsh across the marsh,
Its whistling voices were released.

The grasses hissed, their tassels bent,
The reeds were rattling--on it went.
O'er shaken pool under heavens cool,
Where racing clouds were torn and rent.

It passed the Lonely Mountain bare,
And swept above the dragon's lair:
There black and dark lay boulders stark,
And flying smoke was in the air.

It left the world and took its flight
Over the wide seas of the night.
The moon set sale upon the gale,
And stars were fanned to leaping light.

Under the Mountain dark and tall,
The King has come unto his hall!
His foe is dead, the Worm of Dread,
And ever so his foes shall fall!

The sword is sharp, the spear is long,
The arrow swift, the Gate is strong.
The heart is bold that looks on gold;
The dwarves no more shall suffer wrong.

The dwarves of yore made mighty spells,
While hammers fell like ringing bells
In places deep, where dark things sleep,
In hollow halls beneath the fells.

On silver necklaces they strung
The light of stars, on crowns they hung
The dragon-fire, from twisted wire
The melody of harps they wrung.

The mountain throne once more is freed!
O! Wandering folk, the summons heed!
Come haste! Come haste! Across the waste!
The king of freind and kin has need.

Now call we over the mountains cold,
'Come back unto the caverns old!'
Here at the gates the king awaits,
His hands are rich with gems and gold.

The king has come unto his hall
Under the Mountain dark and tall.
The Wyrm of Dread is slain and dead,
And ever so our foes shall fall!

Farewell we call to hearth and hall!
Though wind may blow and rain may fall,
We must away, ere break of day
Far over the wood and mountain tall.

To Rivendell, where Elves yet dwell
In glades beneath the misty fell.
Through moor and waste we ride in haste,
And whither then we cannot tell.

With foes ahead, behind us dread,
Beneath the sky shall be our bed,
Until at last our toil be passed,
Our journey done, our errand sped.

We must away! We must away!
We ride before the break of day!

Lyrics: Misty Mountains Cold
